The Star Theatre building was originally Gilkeson’s, a two-story dry goods store, from its construction in 1885 until the 1920s. Thomas and Charles Goodnight converted it into the Star Theater. In 1949, the Star Theater was remodeled into a three-story two-part commercial block building, which still stands today.
Many businesses called The Star Theater building home until it closed its doors in the 1960s. Since then, the space was used as a bar, nightclub, and event center.
This building was generously donated to Warrensburg Main Street in July of 2023. The organization’s goal was to continue to use this historic space for the community and focus on rehabilitation. These goals would ensure the building will stand for another 50+ years in Downtown Warrensburg.
Due to future plans for the Star Theater, rentals will be unavailable until further notice.
