Downtown Warrensburg is proud to be the Home of Man’s Best Friend and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by rolling out the red carpet for our four-legged friends!
Join Warrensburg Main Street for the Downtown Dog Contest, a tail-waggin’ celebration for dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes. Bring your favorite furry friend Downtown to strut the red carpet, show off their personality and compete for prizes and bragging rights!
From playful puppies and dashing adults to our seasoned seniors, every dog deserves their moment in the spotlight. Whether your pup is a showstopper, a class clown or simply your very best friend, this event is all about celebrating the dogs we love and the special history that makes Warrensburg the Home of Man’s Best Friend.
How It Works:
$20 Entry Fee – Gets your dog into its Age Division, People’s Choice category and competing for the Downtown Dog title.

- Bless Your Heart: Beauty is in the eye of the leash holder! This category celebrates the perfectly imperfect pups whose quirky looks and lovable charm make them one of a kind.
- Downtown Diva or Handsome Hound: Think your pup is a real head-turner? Let them strut their stuff and show the judges why they’re the best-looking dog Downtown!
- Fancy Pants: Dressed to the nines and ready to strut! Break out the bow ties, tutus and best doggy attire for our Best Dressed competition.
Submissions are open August 17th through August 31st. Be sure to fill out our form and submit your favorite photo of your friend to events@warrensburgmainstreet.org by the deadline.
Once you enter, we’ll set up your dogs People’s Choice page to get them in the running to win the title. We will share the link and it’s your job to collect donations for your dog which will help raise funds for our Dog Friendly Downtown! Our People’s Choice competition will be open September 2nd through September 16th. The four legged friend with the most money raised will be crowned the People’s Choice Winner of 2026!

On the day of our event, you’ll bring your furry friends to strut their stuff on our red carpet where our photographers will snap complimentary photos as they walk the red carpet before our judges.
The winners of all our categories will receive a special prize package, bragging rights, and the chance to be featured on Warrensburg Main Street’s social media!
Requirements To Apply:
- Must live in Johnson County, Missouri
- Must be well socialized pet
- Must be okay with children, crowds and loud noises
- Must be up to date on all vaccinations
