Our next category is the Rising Business Award, one of our newer recognitions at Evening of Excellence. The Organization Committee and Board created this award to honor businesses that have been open for less than three years and are already demonstrating growth, commitment, and innovation in Downtown Warrensburg. Café Du Burg opened its doors in the fall of 2024 and quickly became a charming, welcoming space for the community to gather and connect. From the very beginning, owners Joel and Elise embraced the Main Street way—adjusting their business hours to better serve the community and intentionally opening their doors to artists and musicians during Main Street events. Their willingness to show up, participate, and adapt demonstrated early on that they wanted to be fully included in Downtown Warrensburg and make the most of the opportunities that come with being part of a vibrant downtown district. In addition to collaborating with neighboring businesses on events and specials, Café Du Burg has hosted worship nights, easy jazz evenings, and creative programming that adds warmth and character to downtown. Their seasonal menu continues to welcome both Warrensburg residents and those passing through. They’ve also embraced Warrensburg’s identity as the Home of Man’s Best Friend, inviting four-legged companions into their space and creating yet another home away from home. Joel and Elise have joined Warrensburg Main Street committees, bringing ideas, collaboration, and a genuine desire to support surrounding businesses. Their commitment extends far beyond their storefront and reflects a true passion for helping Downtown Warrensburg thrive.
